Region 5395 is one of the most dynamic solar active regions ever observed. During the transit of the solar disk, it produced a "Great" magnetic storm, the third largest since 1932. It caused telecommunications and navigation system failures, as well as a power failure in Quebec, where 6 mil. customers were without power for 9 hours.
